The muscle car era was fading in 1971, but that set the stage for something exceptional. With the Boss 302 program finished and Trans Am support gone, Ford created a final high performance small block package: the Boss 351. Only 1,806 were built. It was engineered as a genuine power pony, perfectly matched to the longer, more aggressive 1971 body. The long hood, bold front end, and sleek Sportsroof profile made this car look dominant, and the Boss 351 delivered on that promise. Hood pins and functional Ram Air scoops are more than decoration. This example received a full restoration, and the factory Light Pewter Metallic finish highlights the clean lines with a subtle glow. The darker tone pairs perfectly with the blackout hood, hockey stripe, black rockers, front air dam, Boss 351 graphics, and full width rear spoiler. It also reveals how unique this car is: one of only ten built in this configuration with a rear spoiler, and a rare Canadian market order. It is the only one produced without a radio, making it a true 1 of 1. A retro style AM FM radio and discreet AutoMeter gauges were added to improve drivability without taking away from originality. The Hurst T bar shifter adds the right period performance feel as the large speedometer and tach sweep across the dash.
Under the hood is the heart of the legend. The R code 351 cubic inch V8 was built for pure performance with a fortified block, functional Ram Air, and a large four barrel carburetor. This car shows the correct components throughout, including the proper air cleaner gasket and Autolite carb. The engine bay is detailed with factory style markings and correct decals, matching the exceptionally clean red oxide finished undercarriage. The Boss 351 was known for big block levels of performance, and the Hooker headers here add an extra layer of sound and attitude. The four speed manual puts full control in your hands, while the limited slip rear, power steering, power brakes, and front discs make it ready for quarter mile runs or relaxed weekend cruising.
